J Student Intern Fee

GT J-1 Student Intern $325 Participation Fee:

J-1 Student Interns who are participating in an internship or research activity at GT that will fulfill and educational objective for a degree they are pursuing from their home country. The fee covers costs the Office of International Education will incur to manage the J Student Intern visa category and support student interns with academic and cultural activities as required by the U.S. Department of State.

J-1 Student Interns who are paying the fee themselves must submit a payment receipt to their HR administrator as part of the Initial DS-2019 request process. OIE will not issue a DS-2019 until we receive proof of fee payment.

Special Note: A student admitted to pursue an academic program at the Georgia Institute of Technology main Atlanta campus does not meet eligibility requirements to be issued a DS-2019 for a period of J internship and should discuss their circumstances with an Office of International Education international student adviser.
